Bathroom fire breaks out at White Center duplex

SEATTLE — Several people helped put out a fire at a duplex near White Center overnight.

The fire at the building in the 10700 block of 17th Avenue Southwest was called in around 3 a.m.

William Fish, whose friends live in the building, said he was outside with his dog when he looked over and saw the flames.

Fish said he pounded on the front and back doors of the downstairs unit, woke the residents up, and they got a hose to try to put out the flames.

Fish, who helped put out the fire, said they sprayed water on the bathroom fire for about 10 minutes before firefighters arrived.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, but Fish said he saw a candle burning in the bathroom of the downstairs unit.

No one was hurt.
