Auto garage air compressor explodes, launches 300 feet into air

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — An air compressor exploded out of a Mason County auto garage Saturday night, launching itself 300 feet into the air.

According to Mason County Fire, the compressor's relief valve failed, causing the compressor to over-pressurize.

The air compressor appeared to have been built by the owners of the shop.

The shop, located in the 7700 block of Shelton Matlock road, reported minor property damage -- no injures occurred.

The compressor landed on the same piece of property.
