Authorities investigate attempted abduction of 2 boys in Edmonds

EDMONDS, Wash. — Edmonds police are investigating an attempted abduction of two boys earlier in July.

According to police, two 12-year-old boys were walking in the 23100 block of 102nd Place on July 15 at about 2:30 p.m.

The boys left a McDonald’s in the 10100 block of Edmonds Way and walked through Scriber High School when they were contacted by a man and woman.

Police said the man and woman were driving a dark gray or silver Volvo SUV with roof rails on it.

One of the boys told police the car drove up right next to him, and the woman asked the boys where they lived and one of the boys responded “far from here.” The woman then said they could give the boys a ride home and the man told them, “Get in the car.”

The boys started running and jumped over a gate at the high school to get away. After they ran, they noticed the car was gone.

Police described the man as white, in his 30s, with short dark-colored wavy hair containing hair product, short stocky build and wearing a dark-colored shirt. The woman is described as a white, in her 30s, dark medium-length hair just below her shoulders and wearing a dress.

The incident still remains under investigation.

Anyone with information that will help in the investigation is urged to call the Edmonds Police Department at 425-771-0200.
