Authorities investigate 2 suspicious fires

TACOMA, Wash. — Tacoma authorities are investigating two suspicious fires that were less than two blocks apart Wednesday morning.

The two fires happened on Yakima Avenue after 4 a.m.

Investigators said crews responded at 4:17 a.m. to a report of a garage fire at 4114 Yakima Ave. When firefighters arrived, they found a pickup truck on fire. Crews extinguished the fire, and there were no reports of injuries.

Crews responded to another report at about 4:42 a.m. of a report of a vehicle and garage fire at 4325 Yakima Ave. When they arrived, there was a heavily-involved fire in a detached garage, vehicle, trailer and recreational travel trailer. The fire was put out, and no injuries were reported.

According to investigators, the two fires were intentionally set, but unknown if they are linked.
