SEATTLE —

Southbound traffic on Aurora Avenue North was diverted near Galer Street after a car knocked down a power pole and hit a tree Wednesday morning.

According to fire and rescue crews at the scene of the crash, the driver suffered life-threatening injuries.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

Medics said the man's pulse stopped at one point, but they were able to revive him on the way to the hospital.
