Child luring attempt reported in Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash. — Police in Tacoma are investigating a report of an attempted luring near a middle school Wednesday morning.

According to police department spokeswoman Officer Loretta Cool, a 14-year-old girl was walking through an alley in the 1300 block of South Eighth Street shortly before 8 a.m. when a man in a dirty white van pulled up and said, "You're not getting away from me this time."

Cool said the girl ran back home.

She described the suspect as a white man in his 30s or 40s with black hair and a salt and pepper beard who was missing his upper right teeth.  The van was a two-door with no back windows.

Cool said police have had no reports of any similar incidents.
