Arrest made after man blasted in leg with shotgun

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — A Thurston County man was arrested, accused of shooting a 28-year-old man in the leg with a shotgun.

On Monday at 5 p.m., deputies were called to the 7700 block of Delphi Road Southwest for reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived, a man was in the process of leaving the area and was found nearby with a gunshot wound to his left thigh.

He was transported to a local hospital and then Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Police said the victim had been involved in an argument with the suspect, 51-year-old Shane Pagel, stemming from an argument the victim was having with his own girlfriend.

Investigators said Pagel got involved in the argument and at some point, armed himself with a shotgun and threatened to kill the victim.

Police said Pagel fired multiple shots from a 12-gauge shotgun.  At least one round hit the victim in the leg.

Pagel was arrested on charges of first-degree attempted murder.

He lives west of Olympia.
