911 caller reports carrying injured man through forest after fall

ORTING, Wash. — A man reportedly fell approximately 30 feet down a forest embankment Thursday morning.

East Pierce firefighters posted on their Facebook page at 11:25 a.m. that "a person with a poor cell signal made contact with 911 to report the fall and injuries."

According to the 911 caller, the embankment is off of a dirt road. The caller said that he was carrying the injured man 17 miles to the intersection of State Route 165 and Fairfax Forest Reserve Road East.

Firefighters arrived at the meeting spot, but no one was there.

The 911 caller called again and said that he was near Brooks Road and Orville Road East. Orting firefighters were dispatched to the new location.

The man who fell reportedly had possible rib and elbow injuries.
