LONGVIEW, Wash. —

Police took a fleeing burglary suspect who was tackled by an 82-year-old man into custody this weekend.

Terry Miracle said he was in his back yard in Longview gardening on Friday when he heard the commotion of a police chase.

Seconds later, the suspect ran into Miracle's back yard at top speed.

Miracle said when he saw the fleeing man he remembered his glory days of playing football 65 years ago.

“I started running to intercept him, and he was still looking back when I started running.  When he finally looked back I was almost on top of him and it startled him quite a bit,” said Miracle.

Miracle made the tackle and pursuing officers arrived moments later and made the arrest.
