80-year-old woman sexually assaulted in Kirkland

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Police are looking for a man who sexually assaulted an 80-year-old woman at her home in Kirkland's Juanita neighborhood last Thursday.

In a news release issued Tuesday, police said the victim arrived home in the 9500 block of Northeast 128th Street and tried to quickly close the door when she saw a man she suspected was a salesman.

The man pushed the door open, shoved the woman to the floor, put his hand over her mouth and choked her, police said.  She fought with him as he pulled off her clothing. She bit him and left bite marks on his hand.

He told her he is homeless and that he recently ended a four-year relationship.

Police said the attacker is a dark-skinned black man, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, in his mid 20s, with a medium build and a "long, skinny face." He was wearing a cap similar to a stocking cap with a short bill.

Police asked anyone with information about the attack to contact Detective Dave Quiggle, Kirkland Police Department at 425-587-3507 or dquiggle@kirklandwa.gov.
