77-year-old man hit by car in Puyallup

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Police said a 77-year-old man who was crossing a street in Puyallup Friday suffered traumatic injuries when he was struck by a car.

Officers were called to the 300 block of Fifth Street Northwest at 9:36 p.m. where they learned the 77-year-old man was hit by a car heading southbound as he was crossing the street after leaving the Puyallup Eagle's Club.

The victim was transported to the Tacoma General Trauma Center.

The car was driven by a 58-year-old Pierce County man who was not hurt in the collision.

Police said the driver was not under the influence.

The road was closed for about two hours during the investigation.
