$500K in jewelry stolen from parked car on Mercer Island

MERCER ISLAND, Wash. — Mercer Island police said a thief stole $500,000 worth of jewelry from a parked car.

The break-in occurred while the car was parked at the Island Corporate Center Tuesday.
Surveillance video from the parking lot showed a dark-colored minivan that stopped next to the victim's car.
Police said the gems were stolen from a New York City courier who left the jewels in the car while taking a break on Mercer Island.
The jewels belonged to a New York wholesaler.
