LAKEWOOD, Wash. - Authorities said three fires that erupted at Fort Steilacoom Park in Lakewood may be the work as an arsonist.
Two fires erupted early Friday afternoon. Firefighters were able to quickly contain them as they burned through tall grass near the site of several barns.
Just as firefighters put out the first two fires, another blaze began sending a column of smoke into the air about a half-mile south of the other fires.
“As we got here, we were putting out the first two fires and while we were here, a third one was set. That’s not a normal circumstance. That doesn’t happen every day,” said Hallie McCurdy with West Pierce Fire and Rescue.
Investigators questioned several people in the park after the fires but they have no solid leads.
