Man dies after raft overturns in Stillaguamish River

ARLINGTON, Wash. — An Everett man died after his raft overturned in the Stillaguamish River Sunday afternoon, said officials with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Before 2:30 p.m., several people called 911 to report a man and his wife were in the river near the 22400 block of State Route 530.

A Snohomish County Search and Rescue team, divers with the Marine Services Unit and firefighters responded to the location.

The couple was found by crew members.

Snohomish County authorities told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the man in his 50s was underwater and trapped in some logs. He was dead by the time rescuers got to him.

The woman was transported by an aid car. Authorities said she is OK.
