SEATTLE - A man and woman were shot inside a Ballard apartment early Saturday morning, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The incident happened at 1:30 a.m. when a woman told Seattle police that her mother’s previous boyfriend showed up at their apartment in the 1100 block of Northwest 54th Street.
According to police, the ex-boyfriend started shooting multiple times at the mother and the mother’s male friend. The mother’s ex-boyfriend fled the scene.
Police said witnesses at the scene told officers the ex-boyfriend arrived at the apartment and opened fire immediately on both victims striking them multiple times.
When the Seattle Fire Department arrived at the location, they treated the victims and took them to Harborview Medical Center. They are currently being treated for life-threatening injuries.
The daughter provided the ex-boyfriend’s name and vehicle information to police. Officers at the scene gave out a description of the man’s vehicle, according to police.
A Seattle police officer spotted the vehicle after setting up containment near the Interstate 5 on-ramp near Northeast 50th Street.
Police said the officer followed the vehicle and additional units were called in for assistance.
Officers caught up with the man near I-5 and South Michigan Street and took him into custody without incident, according to police.
The vehicle was impounded to the Seattle Police Department processing room, and the man was taken to police headquarters where he will be processed and then booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.
Seattle police are investigating the incident and believe it is domestic violence in nature.
