1 killed when semi-truck crashes, burns on SR 18

KING COUNTY, Wash. — One lane of westbound State Route 18 was closed at the Tiger Mountain Summit after one person was killed in a semi-truck crash.

A Washington State Patrol sergeant said it appears the driver of a FedEx truck fell asleep, drove off the road and  hit a tree, but a medical emergency has not been ruled out.

The truck then caught fire at about 6:20 a.m.

The Washington State Patrol closed one westbound lane during the investigation. Both lanes were reopened around 7:45 a.m.

Eastbound traffic was not affected.
