KENT, Wash. - Police are investigating after an elderly man was hit and killed by an Amtrak train Sunday afternoon in Kent.
The incident happened at about 2 p.m. south of Kent Station at the East Titus Street railroad crossing.
According to police, witnesses said a man was walking on Titus Street, and bypassed the lowering control gates at the intersection onto the crossing. The train then struck the man.
Officials with Amtrak said a person was on the tracks when the passenger train hit the person.
Police told KIRO 7 the man has not been identified.
The passengers on board the train were not injured.
The Kent Police Department, Burlington Northern Police Department and Amtrak are working together to investigate the incident.
