1 dead in West Seattle rollover crash

SEATTLE —

Police are investigating a fatal rollover collision Saturday evening in West Seattle.

The crash happened in the 7900 block of Delridge Way Southwest after 9 p.m.

Police said a Honda was turning left onto Delridgeway Way Southwest when it was struck by a Chevy pickup truck. The pickup truck then overturned, and a man riding in the bed of the truck was ejected.

When medics arrived, they pronounced the man dead at the scene.

According to authorities, the driver the Honda, a man in his 50s, was evaluated, but no signs of impairment were detected. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center with minor injuries.

A man driving the pickup was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, and a man in the passenger seat was treated at the scene and then later released.

Police said the driver of the pickup was evaluated and alcohol consumption was detected. He was placed under arrest and processed for driving under the influence. After evaluations and treatment, he will be booked into the King County Jail for vehicular homicide.

After the crash, the roadway was closed in both directions for police to investigate the crash.
