Gymboree's new 'refreshed' clothing line will make your kids into little trendsetters

Gymboree is making a comeback! And based on the new clothes they just debuted, they've hit the mark.

On Monday, Gymboree unveiled its latest turnaround move: A brand refresh. It includes newly designed clothes that are both adorable and chic. And just in time for back-to-school shopping!

This comes after the San Francisco-based company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September 2017. The company ended up closing more than 360 stores, leaving about 940, according to CNBC.

You know all those Instagram kid stars who are 5 but dress like they're 25?

Yeah, you'll probably find them at the new Gymboree stores from here on out.

Gymboree Senior Vice President and General Manager Tina Canales told All the Moms the brand approached design entirely different for the line, focusing on providing a variety of high-quality products that could be worn multiple ways.

In essence:

You, the parent, can go in and grab a handful of items. Then, your kid can take from those items and assemble several different outfits that match his or her personality.

GONE are the days of buying your kids outfits to wear one time only.

And you can rest assured that your kid, without your help, will actually be able to match their outfits alone!

That's not to say the clothes are perfect match sets — not at all, actually. It's just that the items blend well together. Think cool denim jacket with a cute graphic tee and khaki-colored pants.

New focuses

Not to mention, Gymboree has upgraded its materials (150 new fabrics!) to be softer and stretchier, Canales said, with a special focus on high-quality denim. They can be dressed up or down.

You'll still find the fun and bright colors typical of "old" Gymboree, but the refreshed store will also now offer trendy patterns and muted colors as well. (Think stripes, gingham and polka dots).

Even cuter: the uplifting phrases on the adorable graphic tees. A fan favorite so far is the "Kindness Matters" shirt, Canales said.

But cute back-to-school options might be the "study buddy" T-shirt or the "snack time" tee.

And the price? It'll stay the same as before. Some items are less than $10, some are around $50.

More newborn clothes

Canales told All the Moms Gymboree has expanded its newborn offerings, and while there's no exact breakdown, she estimates newborn items will now make up about 40 percent of the store's retail.

New in-store layout

New, remodeled Gymboree locations have a contemporary flair that's supposed to reflect the store's "new modern style."

Parents will walk in and decide if they want to shop in the "baby" section (newborns to toddlers) or the "kid section" (elementary to teens).

Perhaps the coolest part, however, are the new communal tables, where parents will be able to check out while their kids color or do crafts. (Similar to the kids' tables at Apple or Windows stores in the mall.)

Within the year, about eight Gymboree locations will get remodels.

Don't forget the rewards

The last bit of exciting news is the new Gymboree app, where parents can let their kids color and play, OR (more importantly) parents can play "spin to win" on the app and win prizes like cars or family vacations to The Color Factory in New York as well as discounts to use in the store.
