April 22, 2012 - KIRO 7’s Deborah Horne and Annette Parks hosted a special tour group, the Delta G.E.M.S., on April 22. The visit provided the teenage girls with the opportunity to learn about various career possibilities in television.

The Delta G.E.M.S. received a multi-faceted view of career options in television by initially having a Q&A with the hosts. Afterwards, Annette provided a tour and explanation of how an engineering department functions, while Deborah delved deeper into a career in the news industry. At the end, the girls even had the chance to view the 5 p.m. news live in the studio.

As a member of the Bellevue Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, which implements Delta G.E.M.S., this was an important opportunity very dear to Annette’s heart.

Delta G.E.M.S. (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully) was created to assist in the facilitating of the dreams and goals of African American at-risk, adolescent girls aged 14-18. For more information please visit: www.bellevuealumnae.org.
