Nature Movie: Salmon Conservation Efforts in Bellevue, Friday, November 18, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Free event, pre-registration required. City of Bellevue site: Salmon play a vital role in sustaining millions of miles of diverse ecosystems here in the Pacific Northwest.  Unfortunately, human interference, over-fishing and habitat loss have led to the drastic decline in their numbers.  Their imminent disappearance will have lasting negative effects on the richness of our entire region.  This film forces us to take a closer look at our conservation efforts.  It will shed new light on how we are all connected and play a vital role in the overall health of these iconic creatures and the health of our ecosystems. Pacific Lutheran University Opera: Fiery Jade – Cai Yan, November 17-19, 7:30 p.m., November 20, 3 p.m. Music composed by PLU professor Greg Youtz and libretto script written by poet Zhang Er. The opera will also feature student performers as well. From the PLU site: The opera tells the story of the legendary Chinese woman poet Cai Yan who was born in 177 AD at the war ridden, violent end of Eastern Han Dynasty.
