7 things to do this Thanksgiving weekend: Nov. 22 - 26

1) Night lights: Seattle Tree Lighting Ceremony – Friday, Nov. 23. People can enjoy the post-Thanksgiving tradition of the tree lighting at Westlake Center in downtown Seattle. The event draws more than 10,000 people. Follow this link for details.

2) Architectural delight: 26th Annual Gingerbread Village – Running until Jan. 1, 2019. This event is about showmanship and will feature recreations from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." The theme for this year is "Welcome to Whoville." Follow this link for details.

3) Steady pace: Tacoma City Turkey Trot – Thursday, Nov. 22. Dust off those running shoes and prepare for a run through the streets. There will be a 5K and a 1K. The race starts at 9 a.m. and packets can be picked up at 7 a.m. Follow this link for details.

4) Fun tradition: "A Christmas Carol" – Running until Dec. 28. This present-day stage performance adapts the original Charles Dickens story of three ghostly visitors who take Ebenezer Scrooge on a trip to Christmases past, present and future. 5) Shining brightly: Wildlights, Woodland Park Zoo – Opens on Nov. 23 and runs until Jan. 5. This event is all about seeing the animals at the zoo during the holidays. Attendees can enjoy the many lights and up-close animal encounters. Follow this link for details.

6) Street party: Macy's Holiday Parade - Friday, Nov. 23, starting at 9 a.m. Catch the spirit of the holiday season when various cheer teams, bands, local community organizations and balloon characters go through the streets of Seattle kicking off the Christmas season. The parade will start at 7th Avenue and Pine and end at Macy's on 4th Avenue when Santa steps off his sleigh. Follow this link for details.

7) Music throwdown: Seattle's "Last Waltz" Tribute – Friday, Nov. 23, doors open at 7 p.m. If you want horns, bass guitar, vocals and much more, then this is the event you may want to attend.
